Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried navy beans
  • 15 ounces bacon ends chopped
  • 1 large Spanish onion chopped
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  • Soak beans overnight in room temperature water.
  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
  • Combine soaked drained beans with remaining ingredients and 4 cups of water in a dutch oven.
  • Cook covered for 1 hour then stir, cook for another hour.
  • Stir again. leaving uncovered to bake for another hour.
  • Pull from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes covered again and serve.
