Tartar Sauce

Fresh tartar sauce is so easy to make, I never buy it. Homemade has a fresher taste and when I have leftovers, I always seem to find another way to serve (a dip for veggies, etc.)

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons dill relish or diced dill pickles with a little of the pickle juice
  • 2 green onions finely chopped (whites and some of the green)
  • 1 tablespoon capers rinsed and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh dill finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together in a small mixing bowl. Cover and chill in the fridge for at least one hour before serving.
  • I like to use fresh dill if I have on hand, but this sauce is great without as well.
